Overview[]

The Mayor is a role that gets huge power late in the game as he can choose to almost single-handedly lynch someone when there are few people left to vote. A Mayor can reveal their role to the entire town during the day with the -vote command. This will send a global message revealing their role, but then makes them unhealable if the "Cannot be healed" option is enabled. However, he can still be guarded by a Bodyguard.

Strategies[]

  • It is best as Mayor to only reveal when it seems the town might not be able to lynch a Mafia or evil role or when the Mayor is facing being lynched themselves.
  • Think carefully before voting. A slip-up by a regular towns folk frequently doesn't change much. When the Mayor votes for the wrong person, it's very easy to get a wrongful lynch.
  • Since the Mayor can confirm his role to the town via the game message, the Mayor could try to Role Call and ask everyone to private message their roles to the Mayor. The real Town will have no problem telling their roles and information to the Mayor. Those that don't whisper their role and information to you appear very suspicious; for what do they have to lose? Once everyone has whispered their roles, it is up to the Mayor to decide who is telling the truth. See Role Call for more information on the strategy.
    • Only try this if you are sure you know how to eliminate roles and deduce lying role-claimers.
    • Be careful about putting all the role claims in your last will. You could reveal crucial protective roles or the Janitor might be the only one with access to your information-heavy Last Will.
      • To counter this, after a lynch, only put those that you wish and a reason why in your Last Will.
  • Advanced strategy: If you know exactly who a Neutral Killing role is, you can put him up on trial. Then during the sequence, you vote innocent to bait the Mafia because the Mafia would normally vote guilty. Once it's clear who the Mafia is, you can begin to lynch accordingly.

Options[]

  • Loses extra votes in Cult - (Default: Off)
  • Votes count for 3 - (Default: On)
  • Votes count for 4 - (Default: Off)
  • Cannot be healed - (Default: On)

If both Votes count options are unchecked, the Mayor will have a vote power of 2.

Notes[]

  • After the Mayor reveals, their vote will be worth the selected amount. Before the reveal, their vote is worth one.
  • If the Mayor is one of two people to survive and the other is Mafia or Evil neutral, the Town will automatically lose the game due to the tie-breaker system. There must be at least three people still alive in order to use the voting abilities.
  • Along with the Spy, Executioner, and Mason, the Mayor is one of only four roles with no active night abilities.
  • There can never be both Marshall and Mayor in a game. If a custom setup contains both then the game will not start.
